One local bank in Jefferson is seeking donations for a worthy cause.

Home State Bank is collecting non-perishable food items for the food pantry, Greene County Action Resource Center. President Bob Allen stresses the need to help support the food pantry, who has seen a dramatic increase in the number of individuals and households that they are serving.

“We really want to support our local food pantry. It’s important this time of year but anytime of the year, it’s really important that we do that. And also throughout this week please stop by Home State Bank and drop off your canned goods and we’re going to make those donations. We’ve got a lot of wonderful volunteers that do a nice job and we want to do our job in supporting them.”

Allen notes that they are collecting food items through this Friday. He adds that during their annual Shred Day, they pledged $0.25 per pound of shredded material and presented ARC Manager Shirley Haupert with a check for $1,275 at this past Friday’s Java and Juice event.
