Governor Kim Reynolds has signed onto a lawsuit against President Joe Biden’s plan to forgive $20,000 in student loan debt from many borrowers.
Governor Reynolds says in this lawsuit they would be joining many other states that include Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and South Carolina. Reynolds explains that Iowans are not happy with this student loan forgiveness along with her daughters that worked multiple jobs to pay their student loan. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that this student loan forgiveness plan isn’t fair to those Americans who didn’t attend college.
“People that made the decision not to go to college and to go into the workforce and to raise a family, why should they have to pay for somebody else’s student debt? They signed a contract. They said, you pay for my school, I’m going to pay it back. It’s ridiculous.”
Reynolds states this lawsuit calls the Court to put an immediate pause on the program.
