Dallas County Conservation is seeking volunteers for a local nature area this weekend.
The Voas Volunteer Day will take place on Saturday from 9am until noon at the Voas Nature Area in Miniburn. Outreach Coordinator Sarah Gilchrist says they plan on really making a difference to this park and are searching for those who love to get their hands dirty. Gilchrist notes that they will continue a five year project of getting rid of an invasive species in the area.
“So we’re going to take out invasives and some understory that crowds out the wolf oaks in there. And we’re going to take out honeysuckle and multi flora rose and some small trees. And it’s just, man, when you get done with that day, you can really see the difference that you’ve made.”
