At Friday’s Java and Juice in Jefferson, one company celebrated several recent accomplishments.
Home State Bank completed its renovations to its current building in Jefferson, which got its start in 1934 and moved from the downtown square in 1960 to its current location. President Bob Allen said in 1960, Home State Bank had $3 million in assets and now has $360 million in assets.
Allen also mentioned a groundbreaking ceremony that happened this past Thursday in Polk City, as a kickstart to a second location. Allen said this was a decade in the making to expand to another location and Polk City is similar to Jefferson.
“What we liked about Polk City is that it’s a community with about 6,000 people, they’ve got a little town square, just like Jefferson does; (and) the other thing that’s interesting about it to is there’s a lot younger people that live there too. So it’s kind of an exciting time to be a part of them.”
A check presentation was also made to the Greene County Action Resource Center for $1,275, which Allen said was from when they had their Shred Day and agreed to donate $0.25 per one pound of shredded materials.
