Republican candidates running in the November General Election made a stop in Guthrie County to discuss their campaign promises.
Third Congressional District candidate Zach Nunn along with Attorney General candidate Brenna Bird, Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg, State Senator for District 47 candidate Robby Smith and Iowa House District 47 candidate Carter Nordman all gave speeches on why they should be elected or reelected as a part of the Governor Kim Reynolds “Get Out To Vote Tour” at the Guthrie Center Activities Center on Thursday. Governor Reynolds explained what this tour is all about.
“So we’ll be all over the state in every single district and communities all across the state talking about why we want the opportunity to continue to serve Iowans. And I especially want to do everything we can to help elect Brenna Bird to be the next attorney general for Iowa.”
Bird is the Guthrie County Attorney while also running against Democratic incumbent Tom Miller for the State Attorney General position. Bird said it was good to talk with Guthrie County voters about her campaign agenda.
“I would say backing the blue 100% that’s a big one, because our current attorney general doesn’t care about law enforcement. It’s not a priority. It is for me. And then the second thing is holding the Biden Administration accountable. Under the federal Constitution. He’s refused to sue the Biden Administration. He hasn’t even done it once, although he sued the Trump Administration right and left.”
Bird also discussed standing up for Iowa farmers, holding the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) accountable, protecting the southern border and suing the federal government on the vaccine mandates.
