The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center football team won a tightly contested round one playoff game against Treynor (34-29) and these close games have not surprised the Chargers.
AC/GC has won four out of five one score games in the regular season this year with the only lose coming in week 1 to class 2A Greene County (14-20). Head Coach Cody Matthewson says his team is battled tested which allows his team not to panic in the postseason.
“But as I told (Mr. Eric Cooper), I said, you know, the games earlier in the year that were close and we were just playing those close. Those are paying dividends. And just to be able to be challenged there towards the end. And we persevered. So it was nice to be in those games and they come around full circle.”
The Chargers will need to play their best ball of the season as they meet Underwood in the Iowa High School round of 16 playoffs this Friday in Underwood. You can listen to the game live on Raccoon Valley Radio.com or on the mobile app KKRF-2 with pre-game at 6:30pm and 7pm kickoff.
