Guthrie County will have quite a few athletes competing at the Iowa High School State Cross Country State Meet in Fort Dodge.
The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center boys cross country team won the state meet for the first time in school history last year and recently qualified for state with a first place finish in this year’s state qualifying meet with 35 points. Head Coach Colin Shawgo says they are setting the goals high for another state championship.
“We have a really, really good team, top to bottom. And I think that gives us an excellent, excellent chance at being repeat state champions on the boys side. And I’m really excited to see what these guys can go out and do on Friday. They really kind of started focusing on that goal the last couple of weeks and are geared up and ready to go.”
AC/GC qualifying individual runners include Justin Reinhart, Andrew Mahaffey, Noah Kading and Ava Campbell. Additionally, Panorama cross country had one lone runner advance to state which was Mary Fett. The state meet will take place at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge on Friday at 10:30am.
