The West Central Valley School Board recently approved new measures to improve the security measures district-wide .
Superintendent Rusty Shockley says that they will be installing a new access control system at every building in their district and it includes new features which allows them to just work with one company.
“We’re working with a company that’s coming in, going to install key fobs on all the exterior doors to allow for entry, which will allow for all our employees to be able to scan in, scan out. It allows us to track who’s in the building. It also allows us to open and lock buildings remotely. It just gives us a lot of things to offer.”
He says that this system will also be able to alert them if a student opens any exterior door for an incoming visitor. The security equipment will cost the district upwards of $30,000 with recurring payments. They will use the Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) and SEI funds for the equipment.
