The Greene County School Board met Wednesday in regular session.
The meeting started with the Board making special acknowledgement of Business Manager Brenda Muir retirement/resignation effective June 30, 2023. Board member Cindy Daubendiek said that on behalf of the Board, she thanked Muir for her years of service, along with her experience and knowledge of finances and the district as a whole.
Then the Board approved the second reading to a revised board policy 905.1 that would not guarantee there would be a custodian for a community use of the district’s buildings, sites and equipment. They also approved the second reading of another revised board policy for graduation requirements for special education students that their requirements to graduate don’t change because they are receiving services.
The Board also approved three school driving permits for Maya Telleen, Desiree Murphy and Christopher Daughtery; as well as four fundraising requests and four early graduation requests for Andrew Martin and Devin Schmit for the first trimester and Jadilyn Strennen and Cade Silbaugh in the second trimester. Next, they approved a board policy change for school district employees to contact the building nurse or business office personnel to report a worker’s compensation claim, moving the November regular meeting to November 14th at 5:15pm due to the Iowa Association of School Boards convention and they tabled the board goals to a future meeting because Superintendent Brett Abbotts wanted to have IASB facilitate that discussion.
