This past weekend was the Iowa High School Music Association State Marching Band Contest and one Dallas County high school received top marks.
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Marching Band came home on Saturday with a Division I-rating from Waukee. A I-rating means the performance was superior overall. Director Russ Braun shares his thoughts on the band’s field show.
“I was super excited for the students. They’ve worked incredibly hard throughout the entire season. Our motto is just been trying to get better daily and make the performance every time special. It felt like they really brought it together on Saturday.”
Braun says the field show theme was “True Colors” based on the movie “Trolls” where each of the four selected songs the band played started dark and gradually built to bright colors at the end.
