Last Friday marked the final regular season game for the Wildcats football team, as they traveled to Truro to take on the Interstate 35 Roadrunners. It was a hard fought game, with the Wildcats only scoring a field goal in the first half, while the Roadrunners collected all 13 of their points. After some halftime adjustments, West Central Valley came back out ready to fight, scoring a touchdown in each of the quarters for the second half, and won the game 17-13.

Junior Nate Gerling led West Central Valley in passing yards, getting 88 yards of 3 completions. Senior Kaedon Lindsay led the Wildcats in rushing yards, collecting 91 yards and 2 touchdowns on 24 carries. Fellow senior Gage Davis was moved to tight end, where he led West Central Valley in receiving yards, going 66 yards on 2 receptions. Another senior, Blaise Beane led the Wildcats in total tackles, with 8.5 tackles and an interception.

After announcements made on Saturday by the Iowa High School Athletic Association, the West Central Valley football team found out who they face off against in the first round of the playoffs. The Wildcats will be heading to Woodward on Friday to take on the Woodward-Granger Hawks. Both teams will be coming into the game with a 5-3 record.
