There are two events happening this weekend at the Perry Public Library.

Library Director Mary Murphy says the popular shred day will be from 10am-noon in the south parking lot of the library tomorrow. This allows anyone to dispose of outdated personal documents in a safe and secure way for free. Murphy encourages residents to take advantage of this free service, however, she wants to keep the line of vehicles moving during that two hour time period.

“Most people only have a box or two. I tell people that if you’re cleaning out mom and dad’s house or even your own house, and you have more than a box or two, just give us a donation. Because it is hard to go to Des Moines to get rid of all this paper.”

The donation will help offset the cost of the shredding company with their trip to Perry.

Murphy notes another program that happens Sunday at 11:30am at the Carnegie Library Museum is about making rock candy with presenter Trista Cohea. This is a free, family-friendly program that doesn’t require registration.
