Tuesday was another beautiful for high school cross-country and Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s Greene County Rams were on the Lake City golf course running in the South Central Calhoun Invitational. “This was another good meet for all of our runners. Noah Hinote led the way for the boys with an 11th place finish against some good competition. I am pleased with the team’s progression and proud of how they compete.” The coach added the boys were fifth among 13 teams and the girls were ninth among 12 teams.
Greene County boys had three medal winners (top 25 finishers) with Hinote running 18:27.84, good for 11th place. Gavyn Winters was 20th in 19:20.54, and Ethan Frederick was 23rd in 19:26.71. Also, Kolby Angell was 40th in 20:23.06, followed by Carter Hinote, 48th in 20:54.59.
Olivia Shannon led the girls with a 29th place finish in 24:13.88 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles). Autumn Stevens was 39th in 25:18.54, followed by Ava Minnehan, 44th in 26:11.07, Ava Jablonski, 64th in 28:43.27, and Leah McCormick, 70th in 30.56.82.
Alta-Aurelia won the girls’ team race with 80 points and the Rams had 232. On the boys’ side, Ogden won with 63 points and the Rams had 142.
The Rams are back at it tomorrow in Des Moines at Saydel High School for the Eagles’ Coed Invitational.
