The newest covid booster vaccine is now available and public health officials are urging people to get theirs.
Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran says the new covid booster is for those 12 and older and who have had at least the primary vaccine. Cochran points out it doesn’t matter which vaccine you had from Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson and Johnson to get the bivalent booster, but you have to wait at least two months from a previous dose.
Cochran notes this newest booster vaccine will continue to be free for people to get.
“There’s never a charge for covid vaccines, the medication itself, or for booster shots. However, if you choose to get your booster shot at a clinic, there may be a charge for an office visit.”
Cochran says those who already had covid, are pregnant or have allergies are recommended to get the booster vaccine. She adds most health care providers, clinics and pharmacies should have the booster but to check with them to make sure they do.
