It was a great night for Dallas Center – Grimes football on Friday, as they were able to pick up their first win of the year, defeating Council Bluffs – Thomas Jefferson 48-0. DCG moves to 1-5 and CB-TJ to 0-7.

After leading 7-0 after one quarter of play, a giant 2nd quarter that saw DCG put up 28 points allowed them to take a 35-0 lead at halftime, and didn’t look back as they were able to play with a turbo clock in the second half.

Junior Ty Mikkelson put up a great night with a line of 19/25 284 yards passing and four touchdowns, putting up one of his best games of his career. Five different receivers caught a ball for a touchdown, with Zach Smid leading the team in catches with 7 and yards at 116.

Dayne Mauk had a big night defensively with a line of 7.5 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks as well.

DCG will be back home next week when they take on the Des Moines Hoover Huskies, with kick time from Grimes to be at 7 pm.
