The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center football teams pulls out another close victory against Interstate-35 Friday night.
The final score was 23 to 20 as the Chargers improve to (5-1) overall and (3-0) in district play. The game started out as a defensive battle with the only score in the first half a 44 yard rushing touchdown from Brock Littler. In the second half Interstate-35 scored on their first drive on a touchdown pass to Christian Williamson from 30 yards out and the Roadrunners took the lead 7 to 6. The Chargers would answer that score in the third quarter with an eight-play drive that took roughly five minutes and went 75 yards and finished with a one yard touchdown run from Brock Littler and with a two point conversation the score was 14 to 6. Then Austin Kunkle took a pitch play 45 yards for a touchdown which made the score 20 to 7. Interstate-35 would score 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 20-20. AC/GC then found themselves with the ball on their own 31 yard line facing a 3rd and 8 and a gutsy play call to throw the ball to Ben Marsh was converted for a 45 yard gain to set up a 21 yard field goal to eventually win the game.
