Girls wrestling is now a sanctioned sport and the Panorama Girls Wrestling Program names their head coach for their first season.

Amanda Carl is the first ever head coach for the Panorama Girls Wrestling program which will be shared with Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center and West Central Valley High Schools. Carl is a graduate of West Central Valley along with wrestling for the Matpac program from 1991 to 1998 and she coached peewee girls wrestling. She says the interest level has been high for girls wrestling and she is excited to get the program started.

“I am so excited and I’m so grateful that they’re giving me this opportunity to show that I can help these girls blossom and hit the mats hard.”

Carl says she wants to carry on the tradition of successful Guthrie County wrestling programs.

“I know AC/GC has had multiple state qualifiers and place winners, panorama multiple state qualifiers, place winners, and West (Central) Valley has had their fair share too. So wrestling is a huge, huge thing in the communities and I think the girls are going to show that they can do the same.”

Lee White will be the assistant coach. Carl says their practices will start on October 31st and the first tournament will be on November 19th in Nevada.
