A pair of 4-1 high school football teams square off tonight when Greene County travels to Red Oak. Coach Caden Duncan’s Rams are the only team in Class 2A District 8 with a 2-0 record while four teams are 1-1 in the district, including Red Oak.

The Tigers are in position for the football program’s first winning season in at least 15 years, while the Rams will be looking for a fifth straight season with more wins than losses. The series has been one-sided with the Rams going 8-0 in the last eight meetings dating back to 2007.

Red Oak features Riley Fouts, the leading rusher in 2A with 1,089 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nearly 10 yards per carry on average. Dawson Bond has caught six of the seven TD passes from quarterback Chase Roeder. The Tigers shut out their first four opponents before losing 19-13 in Urbandale to Des Moines Christian last week.

Greene County has held all five of its opponents to fewer points than the season average and no rusher has gained more than 81 yards against the Rams. The offense has shown great balance between the run and the pass.

Game time is 7 o’clock with coverage at 6:20 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
