The Dallas County Board of Supervisors recently recognized several county employees at their regular meeting this past Tuesday.

Supervisor Chair Mark Hansen appreciates all of the county employees and the work that they do.

“Well certainly it’s the county employees that are the backbone of county government. They’re the ones out in the field doing the work day to day. We want to acknowledge that. We do these quarterly actually, our years of service awards.”

At their meeting on Tuesday, the Supervisors acknowledged several employees for their service milestones, ranging from five to 25 years. Those who reached their 25th year of service to the county included Christopher Adkins from conservation, Steve Helm with the assessor’s office, EMS Department Director Mike Thomason, Lisa Kempf in community services and Rachelle Lande with information services.

Hansen points out the individuals that stay working for the county for long periods of time speak lots of different aspects about the county, including competitive wages being next door to Polk County and the Des Moines metro area.

“Wage and benefits are part of it but I think that people that get into community service, public service, and they find their right spot, and we treat them right, there’s really no reason for them to want to move on. You know it’s a competitive world though, so we have to stay competitive with what we offer our employees as well.”

The Supervisors recognized 23 employees at their meeting on Tuesday. All of those individuals can be found below.
