With harvest season arriving in Iowa, motorists will begin to see a large amount of farm equipment on the road and motorists need to proceed with caution.

Guthrie County Sheriff Marty Arganbright says motorists need to have patience when behind farm machinery on the road. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that no one should try passing farm equipment when there is a solid yellow line, a no passing zone, which indicates that passing is prohibited.

“I’ve covered accidents where people try to pass when that equipment is going to pull into a field and the vehicle hits the tractor or combine. Those are things that can happen. Everyone needs to just have patience and, you know, harvest is a couple of months, but it’s what we do in Guthrie County and in Iowa.”

Arganbright adds that the ticket for passing a vehicle in a no passing zone is a hefty fine.
