Both high school volleyball teams from the county are in action tonight. Greene County plays a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference match in State Center vs. West Marshall while Paton-Churdan is home in Churdan vs. Ar-We-Va (Westside).
Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Rams are 3-0 in the conference and 11-4 overall. The girls are on a hot streak as of late, going 8-2 in their last 10 matches and both losses were to a highly rated Gladbrook-Reinbeck team. The Trojans are 2-1 in the conference with the loss to league favorite Nevada. The Rams haven’t played Nevada yet, but if they get a victory over WM tonight, it could set them up to meet the Cubs for the HOIAC title.
Paton-Churdan is looking for that first win of the season. Coach Makayla Sparr’s Rockets are 0-11 overall and 0-4 in the conference. We AWV visits tonight, it will be just the second time all season P-C has played at home.
