The Greene County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday.
The Board held a lengthy discussion with NationalGrid Renewables after they presented an illustrative map showing how different types of setbacks would impact a general solar panel project. The Minnesota-based company is looking to install a 100-megawatt solar panel project near Grand Junction. Following the discussion as it relates to a proposed draft for a utility-scale solar energy project ordinance, the Supervisors kept their 600 foot setback from a dwelling, 250 feet from any other buildings and 150 feet for cemeteries, wildlife management and state recreation areas. The setbacks for other properties will be 75 feet.
The Board then gave permission to the county attorney to redefine the 1,000 acre limit per solar panel project for it to apply to the horizontal surface area of all structures contained in a solar energy system and exclude transmission and collection lines.
The Board set a public hearing to recodify its ordinances and include the new solar energy project ordinance, for October 3rd at 9am.
The Supervisors also held a discussion with County Engineer Wade Weiss about purchasing two maintainers for next fiscal year’s budget and save from having to pay an additional two percent of the expected price increase by ordering them now and have them delivered by next December and save around $37,000 in the process.
Finally, the Board approved a beer permit for Paton Pit Stop as presented.
