Last Thursday the cross country teams were in Guthrie Center for the Chargers Invitational. The high school girls brought home a 4th overall finish for the race, with Taitlin Koch leading the way with a second place finish. Chasey Rowan snatched 13th, and Zalina Morse finished out the top 20 placements. And for the highschool boys, Cael Hazen just missed the top 20, bringing home a 22nd place finish, with his teammates not far behind him.
Also on Thursday, the volleyball team competed in the Des Moines Triangular, splitting their two games there. The Wildcats started off strong, taking on the Des Moines North Polar Bears and finishing them decidedly with a 3-0 win. The Wildcats won the three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-5 respectively. Next up was the Grand View Christian Thunder, who were unfortunately victorious, winning the game 3-1 against West Central Valley. The Wildcats took the first set, outscoring the Thunder 25-23. Grand View Christian flipped things around in the next three sets though, winning 25-12, 25-7, and 25-9 respectively.
The football team finished things up for the week on Friday, heading to Van Meter to take on the Bulldogs in their homecoming game. The Bulldogs scored two touchdowns per quarter in the first three, but only scored once in the final quarter to take the game 48-0. The Wildcats didn’t go down without a fight though, as they were able to keep the Bulldogs to slightly below average passing, receiving, and defensive stats compared to other games this season.
