First the first time this season the Greene County High School football team is ranked in the top 10 of the Des Moines Sunday Register Class 2A poll. Coach Caden Duncan’s Rams were in the number 10 spot in the September 25 rankings after topping Clarinda 43-12 at Linduska Field in Jefferson on Friday to improve to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in Class 2A District 8.

Red Oak was in the number 10 spot last week and the Tigers are the next opponent for the Rams. The game is Friday in Red Oak between a pair of 4-1 teams after the Tigers lost last Friday at Des Moines Christian 19-13 and allowed an opponent to score points for the first time this season. Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage starting at 6:20 p.m. and kickoff at 7 o’clock.

Greene County has held all five of its opponents below their season scoring average while Red Oak didn’t allow a point until last week. There is a difference in the opponents’ records for the two teams with a 5-20 record for Red Oak’s opponents and a 14-12 combined mark for the teams that have played the Rams.
