The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office is warning motorists on the road that deer will be a concern on the roadway.

Sheriff Marty Arganbright says with harvest season scaring deer out of the fields that motorists could see them on the streets.

“You need to just also be thinking about a deer jumping out in front of you. So drive slower. Most of the deer get hit at night, but it can happen in the daytime. And sometimes there’s nothing you can do to avoid hitting a deer. And you know that you need to not try to go, you know, miss it and jerk your steering wheel and you’ll go end up in the ditch or rolling your vehicle. So I think it’s all about speed.”

Arganbright adds he sees a new dead deer on the side of the road that was hit from a vehicle he encourages everyone to be safe on the road.
