Eight year-old Avril Shahan is tonight’s Kid Captain when the Greene County football team hosts Clarinda at Linduska Field in Jefferson. Shahan is in her second bought with a form of leukemia, which began when she was just three years old. It’s Children’s Cancer Awareness Night when the Rams host the Cardinals in a Class 2A District 8 contest between two teams that are 1-0 in district play. The Rams are 3-1 overall and Clarinda is 2-2 after having won its last two games.

Greene County head coach Caden Duncan talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about the great fan support the team is receiving. “We had a great Homecoming win last week and we love to play in front of packed stands, plus all the people listening on the radio and streaming the games and taking an interest in the program. We really appreciate the overall community support.”

The coach added he and the rest of the coaching staff have liked how this very young Greene County team has progressed, and they look forward to that continuing as the season goes on.”
