A big event is coming up this Saturday in downtown Jefferson.
Art on the Square will take place along Chestnut Street on the downtown square from 10am-4pm. Chair Ginny Showman tells Raccoon Valley Radio there are 15 art vendors, including fabric, jewelry, painters, photographers, ceramic and wood artists. Additionally, there will be food options, including food trucks; along with sidewalk chalk, art for kids and two musical acts.
Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community Events and Tourism Coordinator Matt Wetrich says a Latino band called Parranderos will perform on the south side of the Greene County Courthouse from 11am-12:30pm.
“It’s kind of a mix and a variety of instruments, so it should be a really fun sound, very light-hearted, family-friendly, upbeat stuff. So we’re really excited to have those folks. We thank the Greene County Development Corp., GCDC, for helping sponsor that and bring that band here.”
Then from 1-4pm will be musician Chad Elliot performing at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County as part of their final Summer Concert Series.
Showman invites more artists to join them on Saturday and you can call the Welcome Center to purchase a booth at 515-386-2155. She adds there’s an indoor venue in case of inclement weather at the Jefferson Elks Lodge.
