ADM Homecoming Queen Geneva Timmerman and King Sam Holloway
The Perry and Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School Homecoming weeks are over.
Both homecomings ended on a positive note Friday night. The Perry Bluejays brought home a victory over the Des Moines Hoover Huskies 27-21. Perry celebrated its king and queen on Wednesday night with their coronation ceremony. This year’s Homecoming King was Jefry Gonzales and Queen was Lydia Olenjiczak. The couple shared their reactions after Wednesday evening’s announcement.
Olenjizack, “Oh, it’s just super surreal. I can’t stop smiling. Any of those candidates would’ve been great. They’re all great friends and great people. I’m just like so honored, it’s crazy.”
Gonzales, “I’m just so amazed. I love all of my friends, it’s incredible. It’s so cool that it’s with my (senior) class president (Olenjizack) and I’ve always been her vice president. So it’s like we’ve always just been this pair of buddies.”
As for ADM, the Tigers easily won against Winterset 42-14 Friday night. Another highlight of the week was the coronation ceremony on Thursday when Sam Holloway was announced as king and the queen was Geneva Timmerman.
Both high schools ended homecoming with their respective dances on Saturday night.
