It’s been four weeks since the season opener for the Greene County Rams football team and this Friday’s game will be the first time fans don’t have to travel for a home game.
Week one the Rams were supposed to open the season at Linduska Field, but due to a portion of the field not yet ready for a game, the location was moved to Ogden. This week’s homecoming game will not only be the first time fans and the public will get to see the newly renovated field, but the newly installed, fully digital scoreboard as well.
Activities Director Dave Wright tells Raccoon Valley Radio the new scoreboard provides the capabilities to adjust to other sports such as soccer and track for results, along with showing advertisements to generate revenue and it allows high school students who take Ram Fanatic to also create content.
“I think that’s what we’re about here is trying to get some real life learning in and things they can do so hopefully it gives students an opportunity to gain some experience there. Who knows, it might spark a student to get into that for a career. So we’re very fortunate to have the resources to be able to do that and I’m excited to see it. I think people will really enjoy it.”
The Greene County School Board approved a $147,500 bid from Blackfin Sports Consulting in April for the scoreboard. Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation donated $100,000 to the school district for the purchase, with the remaining amount coming from sponsorships and fundraising.
