Stuart Public Library

The Stuart Public Library is standing up to censorship with an upcoming event.

Librarian Rachel Majerus says they are having a program that coincides with “Banned Books Week,” which takes place from September 18-24. She says they will have Lori Cook, a former West Central Valley teacher read her favorite banned book at the Stuart Public Library on September 17th from 11-11:45am. Majerus notes that the library condemns censorship and works to ensure the freedom of information.

“We are going to recognize and celebrate Banned Books Week because we understand that not everywhere in the world or even in our country do people have the freedom to access all information and all books. And they there’s places where it’s censored. There’s places where they’re not allowed.”

This event is free and open to the public.
