The battle of 2-0 high school football teams at Carroll Athletic Field last night was dominated by Kuemper Catholic 35-0 over Greene County. Turnovers on the first two Greene County possessions, plus a second quarter blocked punt helped the Knights lead 21-0 at intermission. They added 14 more second half points for the 35-point margin running clock. The game was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Quarterback DJ Vonnahme had the unusual stat line of minus 15 rushing yards with four touchdowns on the ground. He scored from one yard out on that drive and later added TD runs from two, one, and four yards. Taye Vonnahme had a 45 yard run for the other Knights’ score.

The Rams were shut out for the first time since the 2020 season and fell to 2-1 on the season. Greene County was out gained from scrimmage by only 10 yards at 207-197, but the turnovers, 10 penalties, and the Knights’ defense prevented the Rams from getting the ball close to the end zone. Greene County had 115 passing yards and 82 on the ground for a season low in total yardage. The Knights total yards were a season low for them.

Gabe Ebersole connected with Richard Daugherty four times on passes for 87 of the 115 yards, and Patrick Daugherty led the Rams in rushing with 40 yards on 10 carries.
