The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department has a couple of youth programs starting up soon.
The U6 Soccer program is for 4 and 5 year olds that will take place at Kelso Park on Mondays from September 12th-October 3rd from 5:30-6:30pm. Participants will learn the sport at an early age by going through basic drills and games. Shin guards are required and parent volunteers are needed. The cost to participate is $20 for Greene County Community Center members and $25 for non-members. Additionally, if the issued jersey is returned to the community center following the season, a $10 credit will be added to your account. The deadline to sign up is Thursday.
Mini Cheerleading is for pre-kindergarten through fifth graders where participants will learn how to do a variety of cheers, jumps and routines. There will be two practices at the community center Tuesday, September 20th and Thursday, September 22nd from 4:15-5:15pm. Then the kids will perform before the home high school varsity football game at 6:30pm that Friday evening. The cost for the program is $10 for community center members and $15 for non-members with the head cheerleading coach Shannon Black and the high school cheer squad leading the practices. The deadline to sign up is September 16th.
