This is the last month of the Perry Farmers Market for the season and there are plenty of fun activities on the schedule.
Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says there are five Thursdays in September which means there will be five more markets from 4-7 p.m. on Second Street next to Josh Davis Plaza with one already taking place last week. Pasutti says this month will include more produce giveaways.
“We have of course the produce giveaway which has been very popular on the second and fourth Thursday so thanks to the Perry Public Library. People can look forward to free apples on the second Thursday and then a free salsa basket which will include tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, like a make your own salsa basket, on the fourth Thursday. That particular program has been very popular this summer so we are really happy to have that continue on.”
Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio there will also be the last special program on the third Thursday of the month which will be called Community Night with community organizations highlighted.
“Finally, on the last Thursday of September we are partnering with Atelier at 1109 to have some kids activities. This was a hit earlier in the summer so kids can come down to the market, they have a little scavenger hunt to find the different items that they might see down at the farmers market and then go into Atelier to pick a special t-shirt that is farmers market themed.”
