Earlier this year, along with a kickoff to the school year, the Perry Booster Club unveiled the new Bluejay and Jayette mascot. 

The new mascot debuted at the Perry Activities and Booster Club Fall Kickoff. Perry Booster Club President Mindy Baxter explains why they needed a new mascot. 

“The mascot was just getting wear and tear on it, very, very hot in there so we’ve upgraded the mascot. The mascot now has a cooling system within itself and also within the booster club and also within all three of our schools we have named the mascot.”

Baxter tells Raccoon Valley Radio the new name for the mascot is Brutus the Bluejay. Baxter says there was a personal touch with the name and they are always looking for people to wear the suit. 

“The mascot you can expect to see at any game event that it’s available to be at of course we have one main guy that runs the mascot but we are trying to look for more people that are just as passionate about Perry sports, about Perry activities as this one individual is so it’s going to be a staple within our school district and it does also match the updated Bluejay that the school is using.”
