A Jefferson woman was recently sentenced to probation for stealing money from a dependent adult.

According to court documents, 62-year-old Kimberly Conner pled guilty to a Class C Felony for second degree theft. She had a ten year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years.

The charge stemmed from an investigation with the Jefferson Police Department that began on March 14th. Court documents show Conner was the power of attorney for the victim, who was in a care facility. Conner withdrew $25,000 from the victim’s bank account, which was not used for the victim and done without the victim’s consent.

Conner was ordered to pay victim restitution, a fine and surcharges of over $27,000. According to Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn, he confirmed that his office and the defense attorney jointly recommended probation so that Conner could get a job and pay the significant financial obligation. As per the plea agreement, the other charges, including a felony for ongoing criminal conduct and 49 other felonies for dependent adult abuse were dismissed.
