The Guthrie County Fair ended on Monday to conclude six days of activities.

This year’s fair had plenty of fun activities to enjoy including many 4-H/FFA shows, contests, concerts and much more. To kick off the fair on Wednesday was the 4 H and FFA Dog Competition. Lilah Heinz-Wilson took home multiple awards including the Novice A Champion, Rally Intermediate Champions and Master Showmanship for her performance with her blue heeler. Heinz-Wilson tells Raccoon Valley Radio how exciting it is to compete with her dog at the fair.

“Training a dog, honestly, is kind of hard because like if you train them when they’re earlier, it’s a lot easier because they’ll know when they’re older. But if you train them when they’re older, it might be a little harder because they’ve been able to just mess around their whole life. But honestly, I think it’s really fun. It really makes me happy and I enjoy doing it.”

Reagan Gibson was the 2022 Fair Queen and she assisted in giving out ribbons to livestock winners while also giving a speech at the Queen Ceremony on Saturday night. Gibson explains it was a dream come true to be the Guthrie County Fair Queen.

“It’s a huge honor. Like, I have definitely been dreaming about this since I was a little kid. And I mean, I’ve come to the fair, shown at the fair since I was in fourth grade. So it’s a huge honor.”

The 2023 Guthrie County Fair Queen will be Kiersten Knobbe. The Guthrie County Fair  lasted from August 31 through Monday September 5th. For more results visit here.
