A Greene County official recently received a distinction with her job.
County Recorder Deb McDonald earned the Iowa County Recorders Association’s Certification program and is now an Iowa Certified County Recorder. The program is a partnership with the Iowa County Recorders Association, Iowa State University Extension and the Iowa State Association of Counties to assist elected officials in effectively and professionally fulfilling their duties. The Recorder Certification requires a minimum of 12 credit hours over two years and covers topics such as leadership and ethics, open meetings/open records, communication, human resources/office management, the Iowa Code, technology applications, and local government/budgets.
McDonald is one of 55 county recorders to complete the program this year. McDonald was appointed as county recorder on November 1, 2020 following the retirement of Marcia Tasler. She is currently running unopposed in the upcoming November general election.
