Dallas Center – Grimes hit the road against one of the toughest 4A teams in the entire state on Friday night, as they took on the Bluejays of Bondurant – Farrar. The Mustangs hung tough early but couldn’t find enough points as they fell by the score of 21-14. DCG drops their second straight game while the Bluejays go to 2-0 on the year.

The Bluejays were able to rely on tailback Titus Cram throughout the evening as he was able to account for all three of the Bluejays touchdowns. DCG trailed 14-0 deep into the second quarter, but were able to find a passing touchdown from Ty Mikkelson to Zach Smid to get the score to 14-7 at halftime. After Cram scored in the 3rd quarter, DCG was able to cut the lead to 7 again thanks to the combination for Mikkelson to Smid with just over 7 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, the Mustangs couldn’t find enough plays down the stretch, but competitive throughout the evening.

DCG will be back on the road for week 3, but will have a very quick trip over to Johnston to take on the Dragons, as the Mustangs will try to reenter the win column next week.
