It’s another week of Iowa High School Football and the Panorama Panthers will be playing in their first home game of the season tonight when the Pella Christian Eagles come to town.
This season the Panthers are off to a phenomenal start sitting at 2-0 so far which includes their week zero matchup against the Class 4A Perry Bluejays where the Panthers came away with a 39-21 victory. Last week the Panthers rushed for over 400 yards as a team, with 304 of them coming from junior running back Ryan Cogil who also had six touchdown, en route to a 57-33 victory over the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks.
Tonight features a tough matchup against the Pella Christian Eagles who currently have a 1-0 record after a 56-28 victory over the Des Moines Christian Lions in their first week of action. Senior quarterback Isaac Kacmarynski will once again be a factor on the field this year as he had over 200 rushing yards and two touchdowns in this first game this year.
Last season, the Eagles beat the Panthers by a final score of 44-7 in Pella and the Panthers will look to employ a potent rushing attack this season which will feature junior running back Ryan Cogil who already has over 500 yards rushing an nine touchdowns on the year so far which is good for first and second in the state respectively. Also, a factor in tonight’s game will be junior quarterback Cayden VanMeer who has almost 300 yards passing and two touchdowns along with 79 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground. Senior Braedon Draper also has 18 receptions for 241 yards and two touchdowns so far this year and these three will be a factor on the offensive side. Head coach Mike Kauzlarich says the Eagles have a good team the Panthers need to get back to the basics.
“We are going to have to stop the run, they are a big run team, I think they rushed for over 400 yards too last week against Des Moines Christian and so we are going to dedicate ourselves on stopping that run and then make them beat us with the pass so that’s something that we are really focusing on this week.”
The Pella Christian Eagles come to town tonight when the Panthers will be taking the field once again tonight beginning at 7 p.m. at Panorama High School.
