With students continuing to settle into the 2022-23 school year, there are some reminders for germ safety.
Throughout the coronavirus pandemic there was more importance placed on making sure to be careful about germs and Dallas County Health Department Public Information Officer Ann Cochran talks about the best way to avoid germs.
“The most effective way to avoid germs is frequent hand washing. Adults and children alike should wash their hands with soap and running water after using the toilet or changing a diaper and before eating or preparing food. Hand sanitizers or wipes are okay if running water isn’t available.”
Cochran tells Raccoon Valley Radio about other things parents should remind their children about.
“Remind children not to allow others to take a sip of their beverage or a bite of their food. Teach your children when and how to use a tissue for their nose and to throw the used tissue in the trash.”
Cochran says that hand sanitizers are fine to use but they don’t clean your hands as well as using soap and water.
