Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers football opened up their season on Friday night when they took on Gilbert on the road, and though Gilbert hung tough the majority of the evening, ADMs depth and strength proved too much as ADM moves to 1-0 on the season with a 43-14 victory.
The Tigers were able to find nights on the ground from running back Brevin Doll who ran for unofficially more than 150 yards and had 4 touchdowns to his name as well. Quarterback Aiden Flora was able to run for over 100 yards and a touchdown while throwing for one as well on a 24 yard toss to tight end Vince Benetti.
ADM was able to grab a touchdown from Flora on a short drive to open the scoring in the first quarter, taking advantage of a Gilbert error on special teams. Gilbert tied it up later in the quarter before Doll scored his first TD of the evening to give ADM a 14-7 lead after 1. A safety early in the second quarter made it 16-7, and then ADM went 55 yards with Doll able to hustle in for a 10 yard touchdown as ADM went into the locker room up 22-7.
The second half, Gilbert had a spirit effort in the third, keeping the margin at 15, but ADM was able to close the game with their rush attack along with a tough rushing defense.
Multiple players were able to stand out on defense, with Vince Benetti, Dane Beals, and Karver Sutton all recording sacks and making life miserable for Gilbert throughout the evening.
Both teams struggled with penalties in this game, and will be one take away that ADM will be looking to clean up next week. The offensive line was tremendous throughout the evening.
For ADM football, they will return to the road for week number 2 when they will play at Ballard. The game will be at 7:30, and you can listen to the coverage on True Country K1079, the KKRF app, and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
