Steven Beukema, Altoona, was driving a motorcycle on Mills Street in Van Meter when he slowed and signaled for a turn into a local business.  A motorcycle traveling behind him, driving by Marvin Barraza, Urbandale, hit Mr. Beukema as he was waiting to turn.  All individuals were transported to Methodist Hospital with injuries.  Damage to Mr. Beukema’s vehicle was estimated at $1000.  Damage to Mr. Barraza’s vehicle was estimated at $500.  Mr. Barraza was cited for Failure To Stop In Assured Clear Distance and Failure To Provide Proof Of Financial Liability.

Aug. 21

Brock Beeler, Stuart, was driving north on Old Highway 6 at Bear Creek Road, when he slowed and signaled to turn.  John Varnum, Perry, was driving behind Mr. Beeler and did not see him slow to turn, causing a collision.  All parties were checked by Dallas Co. EMS and cleared for injuries.  Damage to Mr. Beeler’s vehicle was estimated at $2500.  Damage to Mr. Varnum’s vehicle was estimated at $10000.  Mr. Varnum was cited for Failure To Stop In Assured Clear Distance.

Aug. 22

Brandon Chismar, age 30, 920 Lenz Ave, Ambridge, PA, was issued a summons to appear on the charge of Possession Of Controlled Substance.  He was also cited for speeding.

Aug. 23

Phillip Banks, age 31, 396 Sapphire Bend, Riverdale, Ga, was arrested for Possession Of Controlled Substance.

Phillip Dolezal, age 21, 605 State St, Dexter, was issued a summons to appear for Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was also cited for Defective Or Unauthorized Muffler System and No Valid Driver’s License.
