This week marks the opening week of competition that counts on the season record for Greene County’s volleyball and football teams.

Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s volleyball Rams open tomorrow in Maxwell vs. Class 1A non-conference opponents Glidden-Ralston and Collins-Maxwell. The Rams were 16-13 in 2021 and the great majority of players from that squad are back this season.

Coach Caden Duncan’s Rams begin the football season on Saturday night vs. ACGC in Ogden at 7 p.m. The game was moved to a neutral site due to sod issues at Linduska Field in Jefferson. The Chargers won 29-27 in overtime at Guthrie Center last season en route to a season that saw them win all but two games, and both losses were to Class 1A State Champion Van Meter. This ACGC team is ranked ninth in 1A.

Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s cross-country boys and girls open their schedule on Sept. 1 at the West Central Valley Co-ed Meet.
