Drought conditions continue to decline in the Raccoon Valley Radio area.

According to the US Drought Monitor, all of Dallas County is experiencing drought, with all but the northwestern corner in a moderate drought and the rest of the county is abnormally dry. The southern third of Guthrie County is in a moderate drought, while the rest of the county, except for the northwestern corner, is abnormally dry. Greene County is abnormally dry, except for the southwestern corner that isn’t experiencing a drought.

According to the National Weather Service, all three counties saw rainfall on August 16th. Guthrie Center reported one-inch of rainfall, with the last time there was measurable rainfall was on August 8th with 0.43-inches. Jefferson had 0.84-inches on August 16th, and the last time there was precipitation was August 8th with 0.07-inches. Perry recorded 0.69-inches on August 16th and the last time they had rainfall was August 2nd with 0.02-inches.
