The Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center football program had a huge turnout for their annual youth camp.

The two day camp on August 8th and 9th had 87 kids register along with some that registered on the day of the event. Head Coach Cody Mattewson tells Raccoon Valley Radio how exciting it was to see the future of the program for a few days.

“It’s one of the things where you just want to create that school pride of the future of our Charger athletes, and also putting our kids in positions as athletes who are playing for us right now to show their face and show that they’re every bit as human as people think they are, even though some of those kids might glorify them or think they’re kind of iconic on Friday nights. So it’s really cool to see those kids just interact and be a part of those things.

Matthewson says that they did a lot of skill drills and worked on fundamentals and techniques for certian positions along with playing ultimate football and punt pass and kick activites. Both days were an hour and half at the Guthrie Center Football Field.
