An event returns this Saturday to celebrate farmers and the work they do.
The 10th Annual Scranton Tractor Ride will begin at 8:30am from the parking lot of the Scranton Community Center. Organizer Dawn Rudolph says the 35-mile route includes a stop for refreshments at Hyde Park before returning to the community center before lunch. She notes the trip is 90-percent on gravel roads. Rudolph says prior to the tractor ride pancakes will be served for a free will donation from 7-9am, which is open to anyone, not just tractor riders. Proceeds will go toward installing a new generator for the community center.
Rudolph points out for motorists along the route to have patience during this event with several slow moving tractors on the roadways. She says they continue to have this event because people like to ride their tractors and the different routes they select every year are scenic which allows tractor riders an opportunity to see the views.
No pre-registration is necessary for this free tractor ride, which is also open to the public.
