With the second day of the 43rd Annual Adel Sweet Corn Festival tomorrow, there will be plenty of activities going on throughout the day.

The festivities will begin at 8 a.m. with the Sweet Corn 5k Run/Walk which will be followed by the parade beginning at 9:30 a.m. and there will also be a city birthday celebration from noon to 12:30 p.m.

Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Bengtson says there will also be fun activities to celebrate the 175th birthday of the City of Adel.

“We have a birthday party theme so there are fun activities. We have obstacle courses, bounce houses, magicians, food vendors, craft vendors, art vendors, information vendors. You could come at 8 a.m. and stay until midnight and have something different to do each hour of the day.”

Bengtson tells Raccoon Valley Radio another large event will be the free sweet corn feed beginning at 11 a.m. at 10th Street between Main and Prairie and Bengtson encourages people to show up early as the sweet corn goes fast.  She encourages people to come out and have a good time.

“It’s a fun time. There’s something different to do. You can tour the (Dallas County) courthouse and see a Bill Wagner display and this is a one time opportunity so you really don’t want to miss it. Bill is famous for the renovation of the courthouse and he left a lot to the county so they will be showcasing a lot of Bill Wagner’s things.”

Also, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be providing live coverage, music and announcements from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday just off the square in Adel during the Sweet Corn Festival.
