The Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s largest organization fighting the disease and they are having a fundraiser in the Raccoon River Valley area.
The Walk To End Alzheimers will be in Panora for the second year this Saturday. Organizer Dave Grove says that Panora will kick off the first of 19 Walks To End Alzheimer’s around the state, so it makes it that much more special.
“I think it’s great for our communities to rally behind the cause itself, as well as the many Guthrie County residents and local residents that are dealing with the disease, giving care or have a family member that’s impacted by it and anymore. That’s just about everybody.”
Grove explains they exceeded their goal last year and raised over $20,000 for Alzheimer’s support and research. He points out the goal for this year is to raise $27,000.
“I’m hoping we can easily achieve that and even go beyond but certainly walk year one last year raising more $20,000 was a testament to our community and how giving folks in Guthrie County are.”
The event will take place at Michael Mills Park with registration at 8am, the ceremony at 9am and then the two mile walk will start at 9:30am. There is also an online registration and donation form that will be linked here.
