The preview of the upcoming season continues as we exam the week five matchup that has the Panorama Panthers football team hosting the Interstate 35 Roadrunners.
Last season the Panthers headed to Truro to take on the Roadrunners in what turned into quite the matchup as the Panthers battled but ultimately fell short by a final score of 26-20 as a strong first quarter from the Roadrunners was tough to over come but the Panthers did rally in the fourth quarter putting up 14 points but fell just short.
During last year’s matchup Austin Block went 3/6 for 38 yards and a touchdown while Ryan Cogil showed out for the Panthers racking up 245 yards on the ground on 33 attempts with two touchdowns while also having two receptions for eight yards and a touchdown. Klayton Bremer led the way in receiving yards with one reception for 17 yards and he led in tackles with five. Both Bremer and Cogil will return to the field this year while Block graduated last season.
For the Roadrunners Jace Bedwell had an efficient night under center going 8/10 for 121 yards and two touchdowns while contributing 85 yards on the ground on 16 carries and a touchdown. Also, Logan Cassady contributed 113 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown on the ground as well. Kale Day led in receiving with three receptions for 53 yards and Ryley Snell led on defense with 13 tackles but this group will not be returning to the field this year as they were seniors last season.
This year the Panthers will be looking to improve their all-time record of 3-2 against the Roadrunners when they face off in week five beginning at 7 p.m. September 23rd in Panora.
