Jesse Miller
Greene County high school senior Jesse Miller has announced his verbal commitment to the U. of South Dakota football program in Vermillion. Miller is a tight end recruit for the Coyotes, and he’s also a defensive end for the Rams. At 6′ 6″ and 220 lbs. with a frame to add more, he has the size and the staff at USD tells him he has the athleticism to do well at the Division I FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) level. South Dakota is in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, along with multi-time National Champion North Dakota State, North Dakota, Missouri State, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Illinois State, Youngstown State, Western Illinois, and Northern Iowa. USD was 5-3 in the league in 2021 and 7-5 overall.
Miller told Raccoon Valley Radio the connection with the coaching staff was a major reason for choosing USD. “They made me feel really wanted. As far as my position coach, his name is Ron Cook and he coached previously at Stanford and the University of Cincinnati. I just have a really good connection with him and we talk almost every day pretty much.”
Football runs in the Miller family. Jesse’s older brother, Tyler, is number one on the depth chart for Iowa State University at left tackle. Jesse’s Dad, Mark, played on the Paton-Churdan State Championship teams in the fall of 1985 and ’86, and was a senior on the first shared Jefferson-Scranton/Paton-Churdan squad. Jesse’s uncles Jeff and David were also standout athletes for P-C and JSPC.
